The Biggest Lie

Probably not their very biggest ever, but certainly ranking up there in the top echelon. This is the claim by Medway Labour today that they "have frozen Council Tax".

They have done nothing of the kind!

They voted against the Medway Council budget that incorporated the long-standing policy, exclusive to the Conservatives, to freeze Council Tax, while providing no alternative proposals of their own at all. Absolutely nothing; and all they wanted to do (in rambling general terms) was spend more, which would require higher local tax! The whole event was recorded (thanks to my own insistence that our Council meetings be recorded) as proof.

Their ice-block graphic shows the Labour lie beyond any question...

I really think it is about time we had a kind of "trades descriptions act" for cases of deliberate, clear-cut lies in political media of all kinds. Perhaps an automatic million Pound fine and lifetime disqualification from holding public office for all those candidates/members/agents overtly involved in the lies would be a suitable disincentive...
