Change of Direction

It has now been thirty months (two and a half years) to the day since I resigned from Medway Council.

I decided a while ago, but didn't tell anyone, that if my situation on that front didn't change, I'd cease political blogging here on this date. This, by the way, was why it was so easy for me to accept the "offer I couldn't refuse" when I went for candidate selection initial interview, which was a condition that I cease if I were to be selected (which in the end I wasn't, so in practice I didn't, then!) which I think surprised the tribunal interviewing/questioning me at that time.

All the moves I have been making in recent months have been working towards this time. Even the Labour leadership announcement was factored-in, and happily coincided precisely with my timetabled date.

Because of the complex and strategically planned nature of what I have been doing, my computer alarm system wouldn't have worked correctly, so I did all of this via a rarely-used facility I have called a mind-clock. My hugely programmable brain was set to trigger and steer the whole sequence of events (which is much more than I have reported here, in total) to this point and a way beyond.

So, there it is, and it has been a good time overall. No doubt I shall still participate in political LiveChats elsewhere, but that's probably all from now on.

Actually, a number of other right-leaning bloggers have packed it in since the May election, some formally and others just ceased without any announcement. There is less reason to do so now that Labour is out of government.

I shall continue here on a more occasional basis, covering just the other topics I have been posting on over the years, plus any new ones that could work well here. Older posts will remain in the archive.

The banner above has changed accordingly; and now the reason for the short space at the lower right on the previous version will have become obvious(!) I have yet to decide what to do about the blogroll: it'll probably end up cut right down, but I am not yet sure in precisely what form it will end up.

    Not entirely sure about that!

"Good to see you aren't hanging up the keyboard entirely!"

  2. Good luck John in your future endeavours now that you have decided to log off from political blogging.

Hope you will continue to blog on other topics, and maybe even come out of retirement from time to time!

    Best of luck,

    Gary

  3. Thank you to both for your comments and kind words.

There could be further news, of a different nature, a few months from now, though it is not certain...

  4. I sincerely hope that this is only a temporary thing and that you'll stay around...at least on other topics for the moment.

Hopefully catch you tomorrow on the B-BBC livechat - which would certainly be poorer without you.

  5. Thanks for your kind words, ASE.

As I wrote: "No doubt I shall still participate in LiveChats elsewhere", so you won't get away from me on (most) Thursday evenings all that easily! ;-)
