A Child Is Born

Sam Cam has just given birth to an as-yet unnamed daughter, who will be sister to Nancy and brother to Arthur Cameron.

This means that our Prime Minister, already on a week's holiday in Cornwall (where the birth occurred), will probably take a further two weeks of paternity leave.

Deputy PM Nick Clegg will thus hold the reins of government for a fortnight longer than was originally anticipated.

Meanwhile, Twitterers have been busy coming up with possible names for the new arrival. Some are sensible, some are fun, and others are sarcastic or just plain nasty; but that's the nature of online communications. New suggestions are currently appearing at the rate of one every fifteen seconds or so.

I haven't yet seen the infant, so can't gain any inspiration that way; but I do like the name Verity and think it might work well in that household.

UPDATE 25 August: her full name is to be Florence Rose Endellion Cameron, Endellion being the name of a village in Cornwall near where the Camerons were spending their holiday. They had promised a Cornish name for the newborn baby.
