Boris's promised new iconic Routemaster-inspired 'bus for London is on the way!
I was in central London a couple of evenings ago, and it was a convenient reminder of how dangerous those "bendy 'buses" are to cyclists and (occasionally) pedestrians. Multi-section trams work okay in continental countries, where I have seen them many times, but that's because you know precisely where they are going to go and the surrounding infrastructure has been designed around their needs and characteristics.
It just doesn't work for London 'buses.
Boris promised an end to them, and his specification for the new hop-on/off double decker has now reached the stage of computer and physical models, as this four-minute video (seen at James Cleverley's 'blog) illustrates..
