How and Why

I can tell you at least something about how computer microprocessors work: gates, latches, multivibrators, up to barrel shifters, processor status and mode flags. At a higher level, I know some ARM assembly code, BASIC programming and a broad sweep of knowledge about a number of other related technologies such as how to set up a network.

What benefit is that to computer users? Yes, it is interesting to some of us, I am sure; but all it tells us is how things are done, not why. That's science in its true sense of meaning "knowledge".

There are those who claim there is no God and no need for onbe, as all they need is "science."

Science merely tells us what already exists and creates absolutely nothing: it needs human innovation, drive and ingenuity to devise new processes, instrumentation or medicines to produce something beyond nature. Invention goes beyond science in isolation, using it as just one tool among others.

We shall almost certainly never be able to explain why the universe even exists, in purely "scientific" terms, let alone why we exist, especially in the form that we do. We can't even say where the material came from to construct this universe.

Of course not: it is only a means to an end and not an end in itself. Our journey through life is designed to be a spiritual one, operating within a physical environment. We were surely never intended to get bogged down in the detail of the physical universe as the purpose of life.

Yes, study it by all means, and wonder at the creation — just don't live entirely or mainly within the realm of "gates and latches" and forget about the purpose of all of this that surrounds us. We were made much bigger and better than that!
