So, after resigning from the elected Medway Council -- because of externally-imposed pressures, not because it ought to have been necessary to resign -- and with the media circus finally moving away (even BBC Ulster gave up after keeping me on the 'phone for an hour this morning, just dropping the line without a word of explanation!), a new life starts to unfold.
I shall need some form of replacement income, and shall start working on that once my head clears of all that has been going on these past few days and I am able to concentrate properly on this task.
The response to the news story has been very good, and the debate I wanted to initiate is now going on throughout the country. My job is done in that arena...
Meanwhile, I had built-up the team in my ward, so that it had become far less dependent on my being on the Council. As was widely accepted by all sides, I was for years what could be termed "the nexus member in a nexus ward" within Medway. Thus I carried a lot of "political mass" (as I call it) which, incidentally. was the main reason that the Labour Opposition members targeted me whenever they could. That was mainly in the Council Chamber (as anyone in the public gallery will have witnessed) as I left them precious little to use against me anywhere else, and was limited to heckling and nattering amongst themselves when I was speaking.
Little people, most of 'em, and it often showed so very plainly...
It was interesting to read comments from those who had watched the Labour response to my news story, such as:
"that labour Councillor that was on had 'something of the night' about him"(That narrows it down to five out of their nine male members) and then describing him as:
"Nasty piece of work."Couldn't have put it better myself. That would also describe at least two of their female members, but their public masks don't usually betray this. You have to have been on the inside, as I was for nearly eight years, to find out their real natures, and that I most certainly did.
No doubt they think they've won a victory over me, but nothing could be further from the truth. Now I am unshackled from the various restrictions that are placed upon elected members (well, once my resignation has been accepted/confirmed) the gloves come off!

I completly agree with Mr John Ward. (This comment is directed over all resent blogs, especially the removed 'contraversal one, Breed for Greed'). Finally someone had the guts to say what half of us are thinking, (the other half are probably in eight-member house holds and are to illiterate and busy drinking and copulating to message) It angers me gratly to find out Mr Ward has been pressured to resign, we need more thinkers, and doers like this man. This country has been sucked dry for the last 40 years by these tax dodgers, spongers, imegrants and social paracites. It's time someone who wasn't a liberal pansy to do something about it.
I aplaud John Ward and agree with everything he says.
It's a sad fact but freedom of speech no longer exists in this country and I'm sure he was putting into words what a lot of people think.
It is outrageuos that he has had to resign over this as he speaks the truth.
I am not one of Brown's Breeders" myself and resent having to subsidise people who think that they can have as many kids as they want and expect other people to pay for them.
Mr Ward would certainly get my vote!
Perhaps a career in the media is on the cards -you write well, you're not afraid to write anything "controversial" and you're entertaining and it will wind up the Sabre lot something silly.
(The media of course is very much red-weighted these days)
Or you could even dress up in disguise as a Labour-luvvy yes-man and trawl through their ranks - I think they call that spy work!
TTG
P.S Have the media left their calling to a minimum of one hour a day?
Good luck to you.
Agree with everything you have to say.....so far.
I totally, 100% agree with everything John said, and meant, by his comments. I also agree with Richard. Too many politicians these days are "yes men" pandering to the media. It's a breath of fresh air to hear someone trying to initiate a national discussion - something which I think you're succeeding in.
I live in Portsmouth, which is another area swamped with "Brown's Breeders". Boris Johnson was also totally correct with his comments about Portsmouth - and another person criticised for telling the truth.
If ever you move to this neck of the woods, Portsmouth's Tory's need someone with your integrity. I'd vote for you any day!
Thank you to all commenters.
The debate is now in full swing nationwide, which was my aim all along.
I'm pleased to see that I have at least one potential vote here :-)
Of course, it has been the draconian powers of the unelected quango called the Standards Board for England (SBE) that has effectively made it impossible for me to stay on or to re-stand as a Councillor. This is in spite of what the voting public might wish -- their views count for nothing against the might of the SBE "Politburo"
Welcome to the Soviet Republic of Britain!
